Ex-NFLers Apply for Dementia Assistance

My interest was peaked when I read this.

Gene Upshaw was taken aback when he first saw the list of retired NFL players applying for financial help under a new program to help those with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

How could Gene be surprised by how many ex players are afflicted with dementia and Alzheimer’s? Maybe Gene suffers from one of these afflictions as well. Remember Gene, you played in a sport that requires a helmet to protect your head and it was only in recent years that it was made a penalty to strike another player in the head with your helmet.

Frankly, I’m surprised there are so few with long term head injuries.
