MLB Thoughts

Congratulations to all the teams that made the playoffs this year. There is still one more to decide tonight as San Diego travels to Colorado to play for the National League Wild Card spot. The Mets did a major choke and neither of last years World Series teams, Detroit or St. Louis even made it back to the playoffs this year. My beloved A’s did not fare well this year. They had way too many injuries and they never got any momentum going.

As an avid fantasy player, I thought I would share the final rankings from Yahoo!

Some surprises here for me.

1. Brandon Phillips from the Reds
2. Carlos Pena is finished ahead of Ryan Howard and Albert Pujols, with Prince Fielder ahead of them all.
3. Eric Byrnes finally reached his potential.
4. Matt Holiday loves the Rocky Mountain air.
5. Alex Rodriguez is amazing during the regular season, but let’s see how he does during the playoffs.
6. Did you think J.J. Putz would have such a great year.
7. Aaron Harang was as good as advertised, which surprised me.
8. John Smoltz still had something left in the tank.
9. If Eric Bedard can come back from his injury, he has a fantastic future.
10. If I am San Diego, I am glad I have Jake Peavy pitching today as my one game shot to get into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the game is in Denver.

Now, let the real fun start in the playoffs.
