Sacramento’s trash trek: Waste trucked to Reno

Okay, I have made myself clear about how I feel about global warming and the scare tactics used to try to convert us to change our way of life, but here is an example of real waste that needs to be addressed.

Nearly two dozen rigs make the 282-mile round-trip every night, shipping Sacramento’s garbage over Donner Pass to the massive Lockwood Landfill in the western Nevada desert.

You have got to be kidding. These diesel trucks that get about 10 miles per gallon or less in an almost all up hill trip are traveling nightly to Reno? All in the name of saving money?

There has got to be a better way.
