Obama to go after BP Executives for handling of oil spill in speech, White House meeting this week.

Was it not during this administration that permits were given to the doomed oil rig?

Whose responsibility was that?

Whose responsibility is it to check the disaster plan of whatever company is drilling off our shores?

I am not trying to give BP a pass. They were unprepared for a spill of this magnitude and have done their best to put a good spin on things. Like all companies, they will do the least they have to so they can move on and make more profits.

My bigger question is why, here at day 55, is the President still playing the blame game? What about our own government officials who turned a blind eye and essentially let this happen? As stated on this site previously, just a few weeks prior to this happening, the President okayed drilling off the coast.

Speaking at Andrews air base outside Washington on April 1st 2010, Mr. Obama said, “This is not a decision that I’ve made lightly.” He addressed the expected outcry from disappointed environmentalists by saying he had studied the issue for more than a year and concluded it was the right call given the nation’s voracious thirst for energy and the need to produce jobs and keep American businesses competitive.

Don’t be fooled here folks. The President can’t have it both ways here. He has been dragged into responding to this crisis and now looks to shift the blame to the “evil corporation”. Again BP has its fair share of the blame, but our Federal Government was caught napping on the job and needs to not only take on more responsibility, but also take a real role in the clean up and not just force a company to go bankrupt.
