Twitters vs. Internets

So I’m watching the Today show this morning and they show President Obama yesterday talking about Twitter, except he calls it “Twitters”. Chuck Todd, the NBC White House guy then makes an excuse for him, saying it was written by a speech writer and the President just read what was there. He then points out that President Bush said “Internets” when he was President, so we should not make much of this.

A couple of comments here. First, if President Obama is so smart, then why can he not see the mistake on a piece of paper (or teleprompter) and use the word correctly? An issue a lot of people are having with this President is that he seems to not be speaking for himself, but rather is just a talking head who stumbles when without his prompts. The other issue is that when President Bush made his “Internets” comment, he was widely put down for this and it was used as an example of him being out of touch. Now when President Obama makes almost the same mistake, he is given a pass.

Now I know that this is not earth shattering news, but it is another example of how the media plays favorites. Why does one man get a pass and another does not? Shouldn’t the press just be reporting the news and not pushing their opinions on us as well?

You decide.

One Response to “Twitters vs. Internets”

  1. I can’t think of a president who uses teleprompters as much as Obama. It is typical of him to read whatever is written verbatim with no discernment by him even when a word is obvioulsy misspelled.
